I found Behind His Lens to be enjoyable. However, I felt like the plot was meandering around and I wasn’t sure which direction it was going. The character and story development wasn’t complete and I didn’t get a solid connection with Charley and Jude. There were parts of this book that I did find to be truly entertaining but I felt more like I was being told a story instead of the story being shown to me. For that reason it seemed lacking in the emotional quality I look for where when I finish a book I don’t know how to move on. Jude and Charley’s story was so much more than what we were told and I felt invested until the end and I wanted so much more to connect with and feel. There were moments of this book that I could really see and feel; not only the passion and pain but the settings where the story was taking place. It was in these moments that this story really sparked the interest that kept me going. Overall, it was worth giving a try and escaping for a little while even though my heart and mind didn’t engage fully. 3.0 StarsProduct details

Charley makes a living as a model. It's a job that pays the bills and affords her the opportunity to do what she loves. On the outside she appears to have it made with her life in the high fashion world. But behind the mask, is a girl who carries the grief of tragedy and loss and Jude is making dents in her tough exterior and making it hard to keep up the façade.
"Being near him makes me feel vulnerable, like I am playing on empty train tracks, but telling him my true feelings is like leaping off a platform toward an oncoming engine."
Jude is commanding and brilliant behind the camera. He has seen his fair share of hot models and one night stands. Enter Charley Whitlock, the blonde haired blue eyed beauty standing before him in a cream Dior dress. Those blue eyes staring back at him through the lens of his camera may be more than he can withstand.
"She’s like a wild horse; I have to slowly coax her away from the isolated life she’s made for herself. I know she’s had it hard; I can see it behind her eyes, but she can’t hide forever, and I want to be the person that saves her. I want her to be mine."
Let me just start out by saying that the angst in this book was STUPENDOUS. It was chew your nails, pull your hair out, I can't hardly stand it, and I loved every minute of it. The photo shoot set the precedent for an angst filled story. I could visualize the scene while it was unfolding and the sexual tension was off the charts intense.
Watching these two try to resist the pull they had toward one another was frustrating. I wanted so badly for them to give into the urge. And yet, they exercised will power like no other, sort of. A kiss here, an orgasm there…you know harmless flirting. There was a HALLELUJAH moment that was long overdue and I was seriously overjoyed and relieved all at the same time. My poor fingernails took a brutal beating.
Overall, I enjoyed the story.This was a fantastic debut novel and I am excited about all this is yet to come from RS Grey.
Hot, sexy photographer. Beautiful, modest model. They both had reasons to stay aloof and unattached. But once they saw one another, everything changed. This was a fast read that had the chemistry between these two characters oozing out from the camera.
For some reason when I read this blurb, I just had to read this book. I think because I wanted to see how a high-profiled photographer, who maintained his no-dating -models policy, fell for a model. What made him break his rule? What made him have that rule? And as soon as I started, I immediately fell for Jude Anderson. Freaking A this man is hot. After just a few words, I was addicted to him and his story. I wanted to know what made him tick and why he settled for a life of one night stands and meaningless sex.
Jude was out for his usual night out, one that would end with some random girl in his bed and out by sunset. But then he saw an Angel on the dance floor that he wanted more than just one night with. And it freaked the hell out of him. So much that he went home alone and without his usual company. Brushing it off as a freak occurrence, he tried to move on. But fate had something different in mind for these two. Charley may not have seen Jude that night at the club, but when she finally did cross his path she felt something she hasn’t let herself feel in a while. She also has a past that she has been running from for years.
Thus begins a will-they, won’t-they story. Jude wants Charley. Charley wants Jude. Jude doesn’t want Charley. Charley doesn’t want Jude. Despite this back and forth cat and mouse game, it is pretty evident that these two have scorching hot chemistry. It is even more obvious when Jude is photographing Charley during the shoots. Fan me now. These scenes were hot as hell. You could feel the chemistry pouring off the pages during these scenes.
In all honesty, I enjoyed this book. Jude Anderson was probably my favorite part of this book. He was everything I want in a book boyfriend. Hot, laid back, demanding, domineering and confident. He made this book good.
However, I had a really hard time connecting with Charley. I knew she was hiding something from her past and since you don’t really know what that is until the end, I really couldn’t understand why she was being so cautious with Jude and keeping him in the dark. And then as much as I was glad to finally understand what was hiding in her past, it just didn’t explain her not being honest and forthcoming with him. In my opinion, it didn’t fully tie the story together. But that is just my opinion.
I liked this book a lot. I just didn’t love it. I felt that Charley’s back story didn’t explain her reasons for not being honest, even after she knew she fell for Jude. For me, this book was just missing…something. Jude alone would make this book a 5 star read, but the story was just a 4 star read for me.
